40th Annual Sears Invitational Art Show & Sale Submission Policy
- Eligibility
- Open to all artists aged 18 and above.
- Artists based West of the Mississippi River are welcome to apply.
- Submission Guidelines
- Accepted mediums: Oil, watercolor, acrylic, miscellaneous media, mixed media, photography, sculpture, ceramics, and digital art.
- Maximum size: 48 × 48 inches unless prior approval is granted by the Museum Director.
- Maximum weight (2D artwork): 50 lbs.
- Up to 3 submissions per artist; maximum of 2 submissions accepted.
- All artwork must be original. Reproductions, copies, AI-generated artwork, and works derived from copyrighted material without permission are not eligible.
- Artwork must have been completed within one year of the submission deadline (October 30, 2025–October 30, 2026).
- Application Process
- Submit via our online form at https://2027searsinvitational.artcall.org
- Required information: artist's name, email, phone number, title of work, media and support, dimensions, year of creation, artist statement, art transportation method.
- File format: JPEG or PNG, maximum 10 MB per file.

- Call opens: August 1, 2026
- Submission deadline: October 30, 2026, 11:59 p.m. (Mountain Time)
- Notification date: November 16, 2027.
- Selection Process
- Artwork will be selected by a panel of jurors appointed by the Sears Art Museum.
- Selection is based on artistic merit, originality, craftsmanship, and salability.
- Exhibition Details
- Exhibition dates: February 13-March 27, 2027.
- Venue: Sears Art Museum at Utah Tech University, St. George, UT.
- Complimentary artwork pickup and return service is available at designated Northern Utah locations.
- Artists outside Utah, or who cannot come to a drop-off location, are responsible for all round-trip shipping costs.
- Sales and Commissions
- All artworks must be available for purchase during the exhibition.
- Artists receive 60% of the sale price. The Sears Art Museum retains a 40% commission to support exhibitions, educational programming, and museum operations.
- Publicity and Promotion
- The exhibition will be promoted through our website, social media, and press releases.
- By submitting artwork, artists grant the Sears Art Museum permission to reproduce submitted images for promotional, educational, and catalog purposes.
- Legal Considerations
- Artists retain copyright to their artwork.
- By submitting, artists agree to the terms and conditions of this policy.
- The Sears Art Museum reserves the right to decline any accepted artwork that differs substantially from the submitted image, arrives damaged, is not properly prepared for exhibition, or otherwise does not meet exhibition requirements.
